The Congress
Run every two years the conference brings together international researchers and clinicians
focusing on the causes, diagnosis and management of personality disorders and comorbid disorders such as mood disorders and ADHD.
With international speakers presenting on themes such as new theories on developmental psychopathology; a better understanding of the gene-environment interactions and neurobiology, in particular in the Borderline Personality Disorder and Psychopathy; a clearer understanding of the role of personality in etiology and pathogenesis in all mental illnesses; the role of personality for the therapeutic alliance; new evidence-based psychotherapies, which have contributed to the fact that personality disorders have a more benign course than we previously thought. Research in personality and its disorders have contributed to significant advances in national guidelines, service delivery, and the clinical applicability of new treatment programs.
In 2013 we are excited to be bringing this meeting to Copenhagen, Denmark well-known for its track record in holding excellent conferences. It will provide a forum for members around the world to present the latest research and facilitate this practice in education and treatment. The conference will combine the best of Denmark hospitality with an exciting scientific program, and a unique social program to make for a truly memorable experience. The conference is expected to attract between 300 and 500 leading practicing medical practitioners, psychologists researchers, clinical educators, students and other professionals in the field.
The program will include International plenary speakers by the current leaders in the field on the different approaches to our understanding of personality and psychopathology and different treatment approaches, include Professor John Gunderson, Professor Larry Siever, Professor John Livesley, and Professor Glen Gabbard.
